Here, we explain what was at stake, how we responded and why everyday maintenance makes a difference when a critical security alert arises.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div data-dce-title-color=\"#131C34\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c0a51d8a elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c0a51d8a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">PHP2Shell: a vulnerability in the underlying web environment<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div data-dce-text-color=\"#373636\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d13c309b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d13c309b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>PHP powers many websites and web applications, including WordPress. PHP2Shell refers to two critical vulnerabilities, tracked as CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619, which can allow remote code execution without authentication on an affected environment.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div data-dce-text-color=\"#373636\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bbda2ad1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bbda2ad1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The issue lies in PHP itself. A website can therefore remain exposed even when WordPress and its plugins are up to date, if the PHP runtime used by its hosting has not been patched. The response must also address the server environment.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div data-dce-title-color=\"#131C34\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7fd060ef elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"7fd060ef\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Our priority: applying the PHP patches<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div data-dce-text-color=\"#373636\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5390094e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5390094e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>As soon as the official patches became available on 21 October, we took action to apply them on our servers. It concerns the PHP2Shell patches and is not a promise of absolute protection against every threat. It also helps anticipate compatibility constraints.
